Reporting to the Senior Vice President, Business & Investment Strategy, the Sr.

Director, Business Strategy will work closely with senior leaders to lead development of recommendations and initiatives which will guide and drive major strategic decisions and opportunities for Assurant businesses, ensuring alignment with overall strategic direction and profitability of Enterprise.

The Sr.

Director, Business Strategy & Growth will have the following primary duties :

Acts as an advisor and partner to key business executives and leaders providing ongoing support on business issues and opportunities aligned with profitable growth opportunities

May lead or assist in projects to determine strategic direction for Assurant and LOB’s

May lead growth strategy projects for Assurant; assessing and developing potential growth opportunities ensuring alignment with overall growth strategy

Contribute to business growth by identifying and prioritizing potential business opportunities and evaluating potential investments, strategic partnerships, and/or M&A activities.

Partners with business leaders to develop strategy and key strategic presentations

Guide end-to-end strategy development and make adjustments to existing strategies based upon new learning and changes in the competitive environment.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have

5+ years of experience in strategy consulting, related business analysis, functional line experience with strategy, marketing, finance, operations, or sales analytics with a history of demonstrated business success

2+ years of consulting experience with one of the blue-chip strategy consulting firms (Bain, BCG, McKinsey, etc.) or comparable strategy consulting firm / function.

Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field (Business, math, economic, STEM or similar)

MBA or similar degree from top-tier school preferred

Ability to develop credibility with senior leadership and C-Suite executives

Ability to lead through persuasion and influence leveraging collaboration and interpersonal skills

The ideal candidate possesses the following skills, characteristics and experiences:

Written and Verbal Communication: Excellent communication and presentation skills, including strong PowerPoint / deck-writing skills; capable of catering a message appropriately for a given audience

Structured Problem Solving: Brings structure to ambiguous problems and possesses the ability to frame key questions and develop a work-plan to answer them.

Analytical and Quantitative: Strong analytical and quantitative skills and the ability to independently generate strategic insights.

Business Judgment: Possesses insight and understanding in dealing with risks and opportunities in business that is likely to lead to favorable outcomes.
