Job Title : Senior Category Manager: Food & Drug Channel Team
Primary Location : Atlanta, GA or Chicago, IL

Job Description:
The Sr.

Category Manager will work in a collaborative environment with the key account manager, sales analyst, and Newell BU analytic resources to serve as the Food & Drug Channel expert by providing best in class business & shopper insights and actionable go to market recommendations.

The Sr.

Category Manager will be responsible for analyzing various data sources, identifying business insights, recommending solutions that drive profitable category growth.

The Sr.

Category Manager will work closely with the customer merchandising teams on key initiatives such as planning cycles, line reviews, key micro-season executions to develop and grow total category sales by leveraging syndicated data, shopper insights, category and industry trends.

The Sr.

Category Manager will develop comprehensive category growth strategies focused on shopper centricity, enabling greater sell-thru and market share gains.

This position works as a strategic thought leader, imparting knowledge of the category and shopper to drive profitable business results. 
 

Job Responsibilities:

• Act as the subject matter expert for the channels and customers by providing thought leadership guidance to internal constituents and external customer decision makers

• Serve as the expert on the use of syndicated data to assist sales and BU leads into making well informed decisions from actionable insights

• Generate weekly reporting and provide insights, identify opportunities and deliver solutions that drive profitable category growth.

• Understand trip missions, category purchase drivers, shopper need states to influence JBP activities 

• Leverage learnings from cross functional counterparts (i.e., Category Strategy, Consumer Insight, Trade Marketing, Planning, etc.) to deliver impactful recommendations to the sales team. 

• Influence the line review process with shopper insights and data to make recommendations on optimal assortment, plan-o-gram space allocation and flow 

• Form perspective on multi-channel purchasing behaviors (i.e., site to store, store to site, etc.) Monitor channel shifting and the associated trends reflected in the marketplace

• Understand how online purchase behaviors differ from those in-store and how to capitalize on the differences

• Develop presentations and present to the buyer and key stakeholders (i.e., business reviews, line reviews, product/segment deep dives, shopper insights, etc.)

• Leverage technology to visually tell compelling category growth stories (i.e., virtual reality, heat mapping, Power BI, etc.)
 

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree (emphasis in business/marketing or related field)

• 3-5 years of experience working with a leading CPG company (Category Management, Shopper Insights or related position).

• Ability to build strong sustainable working relationships at all levels and functions of the Newell BU’s, sales team and the customer

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Experience in Category Management on major National retailer, Discounter or Drug Channel preferred.

• Demonstrated knowledge of Category Management philosophies, tools and processes and proven record of success.

• Strategic thinking, self-starter with ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with aggressive deadlines.

• Advanced analytical skills and computer software proficiency (i.e., Excel, Access, PowerPoint, SharePoint, etc.).

• Strong familiarity with syndicated data, measures and software (i.e., NPD, IRI, Nielsen, Numerator, Spectra, 1010, RSI).

• Prior experience analyzing retailer data and presenting key finding and recommendations to senior level executives.

• Proven ability to analyze and identify insights from a combination of data sources.

• Strong project management, follow-up, organizational, communication, and presentation skills.

Location:

• Up to 25% travel
