IT Senior Project Manager

This is a Full-time position in Atlanta, GA posted March 23, 2021.

The IT Senior Project Manager will define and ensure successful execution of multiple assigned projects of varying size and complexity. The role must be able to define and manage the overall project plan, establish key customer relationships and manage expectations, be well organized and able to manage resources including people. They must have the ability to effectively communicate as well as manage and define risk strategies to ensure projects are delivered on time, on budget, and within scope.

The IT Senior Project Manager is accountable for all project related activities and deliverables, including, but not limited to:

  • Scoping project requirements
  • Developing and managing multiple project plans
  • Managing project stakeholders
  • Managing Communication
  • Managing the project team
  • Managing the project risks
  • Managing the project schedule, including critical path
  • Managing the project budget
  • Managing the project conflicts and resolutions
  • Managing the project execution and delivery

The candidate for this position will have demonstrated experience in delivering large scale projects successfully, on budget and on time as well as have the necessary collaboration skills to motivate team members, focus on customer needs and project objectives.  This position requires exceptional interpersonal skills and working knowledge of project management disciplines, practices and deliverables.

Job Functions

Project Management – responsible for assigned project   success; ensuring standard process and reporting methodologies are followed;   ensuring successful delivery and execution of scope, schedule and budget – 40% 

Leadership – leads and coordinates project update meetings;   documents project status and issues, action items and meeting minutes; acts   as the key liaison across all functional areas, including Business Units, IT   and Vendors – 15%

Financial – responsible for project budget oversight;   ensuring Capex and Opex spend is being tracked against approved funding,   including time tracking for all resources – 15%

Risk Management – responsible for managing overall risk   through a defined process; ensures mitigation planning and regular reviews;   escalates as necessary – 10%

Change Management – responsible for managing overall   change management process, tracking, approval and escalation – 10%

Communication – responsible for all project level   communication and status reporting – 10%

Job Requirements

  • Ability to analyze comprehensive business processes, complex problems, interpret operational needs, perform in-depth work analyses, and develop computer-generated flow charts
  • Project leadership skills including resource management, project planning and tracking, estimating, risk analysis, sponsor relations, status communication, problem identification and resolution
  • Proven proficiency in the design and implementation of Project Management practices
  • Knowledge of project management principles, practices, techniques, and tools
  • Demonstrated proficiency in the use of project management tools
  • Demonstrated appreciation of standards
  • Strong collaboration skills
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal
  • Strong ability to organize resources and establish priorities
  • Ability to develop and manage project budgets and projections
  • Group facilitation, mediation, and conflict resolution skills
  • Ability to develop, plan and implement short- and long-range goals
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to deal effectively in a team environment
  • Knowledge of computing and information technology terms
  • Interpersonal/human relations skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Ability to establish priorities, demonstrate discipline and independent judgment

Job Scope

This position may be required to manage multiple large-scale projects of varying size and complexity simultaneously.

Minimum Qualifications

  • A minimum of 10-15 years of hands-on experience establishing and executing projects is required
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines and work under pressure
  • Working knowledge of MS Office, Visio, and Project
  • Working knowledge of SharePoint
  • Experience with the following project related activities:
  1. Gathering and scoping requirements as part of discovery phase
  2. Identifying resources needed and assigning individual responsibilities
  3. Managing day-to-day operational aspects of a project and scope
  4. Applying standard project management methodologies and enforcing project standards
  5. Preparing project engagement reviews and quality assurance checks
  6. Managing project risks and developing mitigation plans
  7. Tracking and reporting team hours; expenses and managing all project budget related impacts
  8. Accounting firm experience preferred
  9. Partnership experience a plus

Education Required

  • Undergraduate Degree (Business Administration preferred) or related work experience
  • PMP Certification or other project management related training and certifications a plus
  • Formal training in Agile or Lean Six Sigma a plus

Complexity

This position will report to the Director-Project Management as part of the IT PMO team. Decisions will be made collaboratively between these two roles. Decisions that impact the entire environment will also be made in conjunction with the CIO and IT Directors. This position will not have any direct reports but will be required to manage team members as part of a matrix environment.
