Job Title: Director, Responsible Sourcing & Compliance

Location: Norwalk, CT or Atlanta, GA

Reports To: VP, Procurement SFG, Social Compliance & Sustainability

GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB: 

Ensure Newell Brands operates within the highest standards of business ethics and in accordance with all applicable laws, regulations, and customer requirements related to Responsible Sourcing, Corporate Social Responsibility, Supply Chain Security, and Conflict Minerals reporting and management.

Deploy programs that protect the organization, mitigate risk, minimize supply chain interruptions, protect brand & corporate image, meet customer requirements, follow all laws and regulations, exceed stakeholder expectations and improve operational efficiencies.

This function has accountability to all Newell Brands as referenced below.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 
This is not an exhaustive list as the employee may be required to perform duties outside those listed below.

• Strategic direction and leadership on Newell Brands Social Performance program that ensures compliance to legal and customer requirements while always striving to be best in class.

Driving program standardization across Newell Brands, where appropriate.

• Ultimate ownership and accountability for Responsible Sourcing, Social Compliance and Supply Chain Security audit programs.

• Maintain and support Newell’s Vendor Code of Conduct, including the Annual Supplier Acknowledgement process. 

• Research trends, laws and regulations to evolve program through independent study, customer collaboration, and professional associations.

• Continually develop and conduct training programs designed to educated internally and externally (i.e., 2 x Annual Supplier Training Summit in China, E-Learning, Roundtables, Webinars, etc.)

• Perform due diligence and lead integration of acquired organizations into Newell Brands standards when and where appropriate.

• Pre-assess new suppliers to baseline compliance infrastructure to proactively identify supply chain risks.

• Assume Responsible Sourcing pillar leadership role for all of Newell Brands. 

• Work with Corporate Citizenship Council to support Annual Corporate Citizenship report for Newell Brands along with support manuals and newsletters for responsible sourcing.

• Manage, report and advise on Newell Brands Conflict Minerals Compliance Process. 

• Develop and Maintain a system of record for tracking Social Compliance Audits, Corrective Action Plans, Supplier Business Licenses, and Tax Registration Certificates (Risepoint) 

 

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE: 

• Bachelor’s Degree and 10-15 years direct experience in the Responsible Sourcing field within a large CPG company.

Specific experience with managing a team of Social Compliance Auditors, corrective action processes, and new supplier qualification processes. 

• Prefer candidates with working knowledge of large retailer requirements and extensive experience with Asian sources of supply across multiple categories, including hard goods, consumables, appliances, soft goods and apparel.

• Experience developing supplier training curriculum focused on Responsible Sourcing, Supply Chain Security and Zero Tolerance topics.

• Experience with creating and managing supplier performance through scorecards, quarterly business reviews, and direct negotiations. 

• Must be self-motivated, independent, and capable of interacting with professionals at all levels within organizations. 

• Active involvement in Professional Associations a plus.

Moderate level of travel – up to 30%, both domestic US and International Travel.
