CFO Advisory Manager

CohnReznick’s CFO Advisory group specializes in the provision of a wide range of Advisory services to a variety of clients, including publicly traded companies, PE-owned, and privately-held organizations. We offer our clients an extensive array of business performance, finance and accounting Advisory services. The position of Manager offers the successful candidate the opportunity to take responsibility for the delivery of CFO Advisory services to our clients which will strengthen and broaden our relationships allowing us to continue to drive this portion of our overall consulting practice forward.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Technical Accounting

  • Advise clients on new and complex accounting pronouncements including revenue recognition, financial instruments and leases
  • Confidently and accurately review/prepare financial statements, disclosures and work papers, while ensuring financial records are in accordance with GAAP and/or IFRS standards, as well as SEC reporting
  • Provide clients and engagement teams with technically sound accounting advice at various levels of complexity

Business and Financial Processes

  • Participate in business process and operational assessments (process design and review) including understanding, analyzing and documenting existing operations and processes and client requirements, interviewing key client staff, etc.
  • Provide subject matter expertise across the management consulting practice landscape, and identify, develop and deliver appropriate operational and financial solutions to clients
  • Review, analyze and develop key financial management processes including: Order-to-Cash, Procure-to–Pay and Record-to-Report (design, review and testing)
  • Research business process and operational best practices, measure key performance indicators, keep abreast of market and industry trends and other performance and cost drivers
  • Provide business process improvement assistance, including developing and implementing process improvement strategies based on client business requirements and operational best practices to design “to be” operational strategies and approaches
  • Design and implement best-in-class reports and compliance, KPIs, and related data analytics to achieve optimal results from strategic initiatives

General Advisory

  • Enhance the Practice’s ability to deliver valued insights to clients, developing clear standards and robust tools to help engagement teams
  • Communicate with multi-disciplinary teams and process owners to ensure efficiency and process alignment across engagements
  • Lead day to day fieldwork, manage projects, client deliverables and expectations, including drafting client reports and presentations, as well as liaising with the Client throughout the engagement
  • Successfully interact and establish lasting relationships at both the senior management and C-level of a client’s organization
  • Support Senior Managers, Managing Directors and Partners with winning, S and executing the delivery of CFO Advisory engagements
  • Successfully promote firm capabilities during an engagement to broaden revenue generation scope impact
  • Participate in the development and delivery of project deliverables, work product, proposals, statements of work, and contracts prior to submittal to the prospective client
  • Develop and participate in work teams consisting of representatives from CFO Advisory and other groups across the firm.
  • Identify opportunities for future service delivery and driving the CFO Advisory practice forward
  • Up to 30-40% travel


  • Minimum of 6-8 years of accounting experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
  • Active CPA certification required
  • Prior public accounting experience in audit & assurance a plus
  • Experience in Private Equity, Consumer Products, Technology, Life Sciences/BioTech, Manufacturing, Wholesale, Renewable Energy or Retail Distribution businesses a plus
  • Strong financial reporting skills, analytical and problem solving skills
  • Self-starter who can drive the lifecycle of a project
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and to work independently
  • Ability to perform analyses with complex data and formulate perspectives on findings.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks 
  • Strong knowledge of MS Office tools (Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) and familiarity with ERP Systems
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to engage and influence a variety of stakeholders
  • Demonstrated ability to build and sustain professional relationships across functions and tenure
