VP Quality Assurance – Join Growing Mortgage Lender


This is a Full-time position in Atlanta, GA posted March 18, 2021.

Our growing firm is actively seeking to add to our Executive leadership by seeking a VP, Quality Assurance.n nOur firm today has grown to over 550+ employees with $20 Billion under our Asset Management.n nWhat You Will Be Doingn n Overviewn n Reporting to the Chief Compliance Officer
– Lending, this position is primarily responsible for building and leading a team for development, implementation and maintenance of a Quality Assurance (QA) program.

The objective of the QA program is to establish and maintain a QA framework designed to ensure the highest quality lending product throughout the groups governed by this program.

The QA officer plays a critical role in overseeing an independent assessment of credit and operational risk review across the Angel Oak (AO) lending enterprise.

This role will closely interact with Board/Committee Governance, Credit Risk Management, Operational Management and Compliance leadership to effectively manage residential mortgage quality control, while ensuring company requirements and industry standards (credit and regulatory compliance) are met.

This position oversees an integral function that strengthens the lending entities first line of defense (FLOD).

This includes but is not limited to:n n” Creating, building and leading a highly functioning quality assurance team to implement and maintain a comprehensive quality assurance framework that remediates operational gaps and mitigates residential mortgage lending riskn” Establishment and development of three independent review functions to include:n Pre-Funding Quality Control Audit (PFQC) Internal Audit (IA) Quality Assurance Audit (QA)n ” Development and refinement of a residential lending internal auditing platform to evaluate the effectiveness of internal controlsn” Determine compliance with selected policies, procedures and regulationsn” Acts as an agent of change through evaluation of governance activities and Quality Assurance Reviews (QAR) performedn” Review and modification of risk based assessments (review scopes) based upon product guidelines, changes in operational processes, change in law, or as needed based upon third party review quality control resultsn” Responsible for aggregation, review and integrity of all QA data compiled on a monthly basisn” Presents monthly Quality Assurance Reviews (QAR) and supplemental trending data to the Executive Performance Counsel (EPC) as applicablen n Principal Accountabilitiesn n ” Appoints, manages and directs leadership within the three independent review functionsn” Performs and distributes consistent and objective QAR assessments related to credit/loan reviews, operational policy and procedural review, and post-purchase Quality Assurance reviewsn” Creates and maintains an annual internal audit schedule to support compliance initiatives and internal controlsn” Works with LOB partners to determine root causes and issue suggestive remediation plansn” Follow up on corrective actions implemented via internal auditing and execution of operational testingn” Escalates significant risks and loss exposure to appropriate levels of managementn” Create and update QAR templates as neededn” Ensures independence in the QA process by leveraging technology and managerial diplomacy in daily operationsn” Targets loan/credit selections as needed based upon individual or portfolio performancen” Oversees preparation and review of monthly tracking and reporting that detail and summarizing test findings, as well as assisting in determining what additional testing and reporting would help achieve strategic goals more effectively and efficientlyn” Assists COS/CCO to lead technological quality control initiatives to ensure QAR reviews provide robust, analytical reportingn” Analyzes monthly quality control data from external audits to assess the effectiveness of QAR reviews; make adjustments and/or recommendations for remediation as neededn” Assist with research, resolution, and response to external audit requests as necessary and/or requested.n” Maintains expertise in Quality Control and Compliance rules and regulations through participation in industry educational programs, publications, and monthly GSE quality updatesn nWhat You Need for this Positionn n Minimumn n Qualificationsn n” Bachelors degree in business, accounting, finance or relevant degreen” 8 years experience in financial services and 6 years experience in the consumer compliance, process improvement or quality assurance field related to consumer lendingn” Experience with business processes and/or laws relating to mortgage and consumer lending requiredn” 6 years credit underwriting or forensic underwriting experience with a variety of products including manual underwriting, Conventional/FHA/VA/USDA loansn” 3+ years personnel management/leadership experiencen” Operational and business risk mitigation processes and frameworks; risk assessments, control analysis and testing and monitoring techniques used within the area of banking or financial servicesn” QA Officer is a strategic professional within the QA Program that requires the candidate to have excellent communication skills to be able to interact at a senior level.

Developed communication and diplomacy skills are required to guide, influence, and convince othersn” Transactional test development and evaluation, data management and reportingn” Ability to analyze, interpret and present datan” Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task under heavy workloadn” Meet deadline requirements in a fast paced environmentn” Strong working knowledge of MS Excel, MS Word and MS PPTn n Preferredn n Familiarity with federal and state laws and regulations such as UDAP, FCRA and FACT Act, Identity theft, OFAC, ECOA (Reg B), HMDA, TILA (Reg Z), E-Sign, TRID, RESPA, MLA / SCRA, Flood Disaster Protection ActnManual UW experience with alt lending/ non-prime products; DE/LAPP certified Underwriter.nExposure to PLS market and Third Party Review platforms; working knowledge of TRID requirements relative to timing and tolerance thresholds.
