The National Director of Quality Improvement & Engagement is responsible the management and ongoing evolution of BGCA’s quality improvement work including the assessment, improvement planning, consultation and training elements in partnership with the larger Youth Development Team, Child Safety & Quality Assurance and other teams within Field Operations. This position will also lead the youth & teen recruitment, retention, and engagement efforts. This field-based position develops and implements strategies that increase impact, build strategic partnerships, measures short- and long-term results, ensure virtually engaging initiatives and uses data to continually improve club programs and operating models.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Lead the development and implementation of the Youth, Tween & Teen engagement initiative.

  • In coordination with key Field Operations and Club staff build and execute on initiatives designed to engage youth, tween and teen recruitment and retention efforts into Clubs and onto MyFuture.
  • Work with Training & Quality Improvement staff who lead Tween/Teen engagement to ensure access and enrollment in Club programming and on MyFuture. In addition, drive training and profe ss ional development opportunities for tween and teen serving leaders and staff.

Lead a team of Senior Directors that lead teams that coordinate and deliver high quality facilitation, training, coaching and consultative services

  • I n coordination with direct reports, design and implement an internal plan to align Senior Directors to lead the coordination and delivery of high quality facilitation, consultation, training, and program planning services in targeted organizations and systems.
  • Scale quality improvement systems.
  • Establish credentialed trainers and sustain and credentialing Weikart Train the Trainers.
  • Facilitate the Weikart Train the Trainer Program to scale Methods according to plan.

Support Senior Directors in working with Clubs to build quality improvement plans and implementation strategies at local organizations to improve the club experience outcomes, safety and program quality

  • Guide, lead and inspire the team to provide leadership across the enterprise to implement quality systems through staff development and assessment resulting in program model implementation that focuses on academic success, healthy lifestyles, and good character and citizenship in a high quality, safe environment.
  • Partner with Field Operations & the larger Youth Development Team to identify successful standard methodology methods/programs appropriate for replication and scale that drive high quality experiences for youth ensuring feedback loops for improvement.
  • Advocate for the importance of quality improvement systems at every table within BGCA and externally highlighting the importance of youth voice and data to support the need for improvement.
  • Form relationship and partnership that support the investments in quality systems including the mapping of utilization throughout systems. Work closely with Resource Development and Field Operations to provide information to support current and potential funding of services, programs, research and evaluations locally and nationally. Identify key performance indicators and create systems to gather data and feedback loops that support and show progress to goals. Partner across BGCA enterprise to collect and communicate comprehensive and collective outcome reports and collect and provide comparative specific demographic data for Clubs.
  • Support consultants in the creation of quality improvement plans that incorporate intermediate and quality measures.
  • Partner across the BGCA enterprise and local clubs to effectively utilize collected data for the purposes of identifying program and skill building improvement opportunities.
  • Continue to refine and expand innovative training techniques to include virtual engagement strategies targeted to club staff and aligned to program models that drive a high-quality club experince and program quality in a safe, inclusive environment.
  • Evaluate effectiveness of quality improvement, consult and training activities and plans, feedback and set aside time for innovation to ensure improvement to senior directors leading those initiatives.
  • Support targeted quality systems to ensure successful implementation and scaling of CQI.
  • Support and guide the strategic direction, implementation, follow through and measurement of program quality initiatives in partnership with clubs.
  • Remain current and engaged with national and state level work and research on quality measures for out of school time to ensure BGCA is at all tables in support of the profession of Youth Development, partnership opportunities and innovative strategies that support Youth Voice.

Support the Senior Director of Consult to ensure support and coaching through consultation for Clubs to improve the quality of programming and services to youth

  • Support the Senior Director of Consultation to assure that every Club has access to consultative services to support high quality experiences and safety improvement in clubs

Management and Supervision

  • Hire, train, supervise, evaluate and develop assigned staff according to BGCA’s policies and procedures, ensuring the overall effective functioning of the assigned staff, and consulting appropriate Human Resources staff as needed.
  • Establish professional development plans for all staff.
  • Demonstrate BGCA mission driven I*CARE values, and integrate these beliefs into our environment and ways of work
  • Adhere to organizational policies and procedures as described in BGCA’s Employee Handbook, Ethics Policy and elsewhere.
  • Support operations of Youth Development Team
  • Serve as a collaborative member of the Youth Development Team and Field Operations Team.
  • Conduct and or participate in state, regional, and national staff meetings and conferences.
  • Lead or participate in special projects or national projects

Qualifications

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in education, youth development, sociology, evaluation, or related discipline with a strong background in data, research and statistics
  • Minimum of ten years of shown experience, including five years with project management responsibilities that include designing and leading multiple, simultaneous projects
  • Intermediate to advanced statistical data analysis skills
  • Advanced level of analytical and problem solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Normal internal office environment.
  • Travel estimat ed at 50%.
  • The individual selected for this position must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and be able to navigate areas of the country by using electric direction methods.
  • Ability to travel by car, airplane or other modes of transportation required.
