Collateral Custodian

Responsible for review, imaging, correction, filing and delivery of collateral documents (notes, modifications, etc.) to specified investors or investor custodians. Other duties as assigned.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, DUTIES, AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Required to be on-site as schedule by Document Control Manager.
  • Checks work queue as needed to identify collateral due for delivery to investor.
  • Delivers collateral documents to investor/custodian within required time frame.
  • Reviews inbound collateral documents for signature validity and document completeness.
  • Follows up with closing agents to obtain missing, incorrect or incomplete collateral documents.
  • Follows up with investor/custodian to expedite custodial certification as needed.
  • Documents collateral document activity in EDM system with data, images, conversation notes etc.
  • Retrieves collateral documents for loan payoffs or impaired/erroneous collateral delivery.
  • Timely completion of all required training courses.
  • Additional tasks as assigned by Document Control Manager.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES:

  • Proficient knowledge of document scanning equipment.
  • Proficient knowledge of document filing both alpha and numeric.
  • Intermediate computer proficiency.
  • Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite products.
  • Knowledge of Mortgage Banking compliance policies and procedures.
  • Driven to meet and exceed established targets.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

INDUSTRY AND WORK EXPERIENCE:

  • One (1) year of work experience in office environment, preferably with a mortgage broker/banker

ACADEMIC:

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
