Mechanical Design Engineer, Storage

Material Handling Systems

This is a Full-time position in Atlanta, GA posted March 21, 2021.

nn nn JOB SUMMARY: n nThe Storage Engineer will be responsible for creating cost effective solutions for our Client’s Warehouse & Distribution Center Operations.

They will be responsible for responding to our Client’s RFPs & SOWs that contain pre-engineered Pick Modules, Platforms & Rack Systems.

The Storage Engineer should be able to complete all aspects of the solution from collecting Project specific requirements & data, analyzing the information & data, determining the optimal solution, designing the system, selecting and specifying materials & equipment, creating & modifying drawings, preparing BOMs & RFPs, preparing cost & installation estimates and creating the proposal.

The Storage Engineer will also be responsible for reviewing Supplier Quotes & Specifications for accuracy and final selection, issuance of POs and the preparation of Installation Documents & Drawings.

They will provide Site Support on an as needed basis during installation and prepare As Built Drawings at the completion of the Project, incorporating any field modifications as necessary.

KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES : Review Client RFPs, SOWs & Drawings to determine possible solutions and coordinate appropriate resources for response Review Client requirements, data & information and, if necessary, visit the Client site to gather additional data or validate existing conditions Create detailed design documentation & drawings, select and specify materials & equipment, prepare BOMs & RFPs for issuance to Suppliers, prepare cost & installation estimates, and create the proposal Review Supplier Quotes & Specifications for accuracy and final selection, issue POs and prepare Installation Documents & Drawings Provide Site Support as needed during installation and prepare As Built Drawings at the completion of the Project Attend Project meetings and Client meetings as required Utilize AutoCAD for creating and modifying drawings Use current best design practices for material handling systems Maintain accurate and detailed Project design notes Upload all relevant Project Documentation & Drawings to Company Server Adhere to all Company and industry design standards Attend Company training as required Work to expand technical knowledge of industry best practices and latest technology Support creation and enhancement of Company standards, documentation & procedures to improve the quality and efficiency of the Engineering Group Proactively seek work to maintain high Project utilization Be reliable, provide timely responses and consistent follow-up QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from an accredited college , or Associates Degree in Engineering from an accredited college with 2 years of relevant work experience, or High School Diploma with 5 years of relevant work experience Knowledge of Warehouse & Distribution Center Operations and all types of Storage Systems equipment including Pick Modules, Platforms, Pallet/Hand Stack Racking, Flow Systems (Carton Flow, Pallet Flow & PushBack), Drive-In Rack, Cantilever Rack and Bin Shelving Knowledge of all types of Warehouse & Distribution Center Material Handling Equipment, including Fork-Lifts, Order Pickers, Turret Trucks, Industrial Robots and LGVs/AGVs Knowledge of Warehouse & Distribution Center Conveyance, Sortation and Packaging Equipment Proficient in the use of AutoCAD Experience working with MS Project and MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word & PowerPoint) SKILLS/ABILITIES: Strong collaboration and communication skills (written & verbal) Strong interpersonal, organizational, time management and problem-solving skills Ability to work effectively on a team and support high levels of performance Ability to self-motivate and adapt to changing priorities Ability to follow verbal and written instructions Ability to travel nationally and internationally Ability to perform essential functions of the job WORK ENVIRONMENT: This job operates in a professional office environment.

This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, etc.

TRAVEL: Generally, this position requires up to 20% travel to various Client Sites and may include overnight stays.

Typically, travel is within the United States but occasionally may require travel internationally.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described below are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

When duties are performed in a typical office environment, extended periods of sitting at a desk and viewing a computer screen will be required.

The ability to talk and hear, in person and by telephone, and the use of hands to operate standard office equipment will also be required.

The noise level in this work environment is usually quiet.

When traveling to Client Sites, this position will require prolonged standing, extensive walking, climbing of stairs, bending, stooping, and working in cramped quarters.

The noise level in this work environment can vary greatly, from relatively quiet, to moderate, to excessive.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) will be required in this environment including hard hats, safety shoes or boots, safety glasses, safety vests, hearing protection, gloves, and any other equipment deemed necessary.
