About the Job
Engineering Managers at Cox Automotive play a part in a hands-on process of designing and building software, but a very large part in orchestrating engineers to achieve great results.

An engineering background is required in order to be a good counsel and advocate for engineering, but dont expect to be contributing production-facing code on a regular basis.

This role will lead key teams within the Data Platform organization that protect production for our users and provide Snowflake organizational stewardship.

As an Engineering Manager at Cox Automotive you will:

  • Recruit and hire exceptional engineering talent and facilitate the onboarding of new team members.
  • Work with other engineering teams to identify and anticipate changing requirements and opportunities to improve the development environment.
  • Partner with our Enterprise Operations teams to provide world-class support to our users.
  • Manage on and offshore team members to provide 24×7 tier 1 support to the Cox Auto Data Platform.
  • Work with product managers, designers, and engineers to prioritize, plan and schedule work.
  • Communicate status, risks, and requirements to other groups.
  • Provide technical and non-technical guidance to the team, both individually and as a group.
  • Facilitate continuous learning and improvement for the team and its members.
  • Maintain a focus on protecting production.
  • Create and manage KPIs and efficiency of operational stability.
  • Create and manage Cost KPIs.
  • Interact and proactively communicate with teams who partner with the Cox Auto Data Platform.
  • Participate and lead discussions with Vendors as needed (AWS, Snowflake, Collibra, etc.)

Qualifications:

Minimum Skills & Experience:

  • BA/BS degree in computer science or related field and
  • 8+ years of experience with at least 3 years experience in a management or lead role.
  • Strong, hands-on technical track record
