About the role

This position supports Hu-Friedy’s schools business by delivering cutting edge research and education to thought leaders and clinicians who support the use of Hu-Friedy instrumentation. The incumbent will make sales; supervise sales, customer contacts and all business follow-up with dental schools and dental hygiene programs; support Hu-Friedy sales efforts to maintain and grow this business; and implement specific programs to ensure continued growth of sales, profits and customer loyalty.  #CB

What you will do

  • Identify and develop strong business relationships with key personnel at academic institutions to ensure continued sales growth. These key personnel could include (but are not limited to) Deans, Clinical Chairs, Department Chairs, Faculty Members, Purchasing and Procurement Agents, Sterilization employees, Continuing Education employees, etc.*
  • Make sales, take sales orders, and inform management, of customer purchasing decisions and new product or program requirements. In conjunction with Director, Academic Sales and Marketing Communications, develop appropriate sales strategies and selling aids for the school’s market. *
  • Provide complete and thorough follow through for orders to ensure proper product assembly, delivery, shipment and billing. Notify the appropriate process team of customer requirements for large orders. Define product requirements for special and custom instrument requests. *
  • Identify and develop special activities and sales/marketing promotions, and identify and attend conventions, factory tours, etc. to grow the business. Implement marketing and sales programs for school customers to maximize sales and Hu-Friedy brand awareness.*
  • Assess need for and plan, implement, and evaluate education and training programs for a variety of clinical and support staff, including, but not limited to hands on equipment presentation. *
  • When appropriate, communicate and coordinate with RAMs within the specified region, including inviting RAMs to school presentations in the territory. Collaborate with Hu-Friedy Regional Account Managers in the transition of graduates into clinical practice.
  • Assess and monitor customer satisfaction and provide feedback to Managers, Executives and other departments as appropriate.
  • Complete other duties as assigned.

What we are looking for

Functional Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
This position requires an individual with:

  • Minimum 3 years outside sales experience and experience with higher education customers.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Hygiene, or other Dental program, or equivalent knowledge level and ability to perform substantially the same work as a degreed individual due to advanced knowledge through a combination of work experience and intellectual instruction.
  • Active Dental Hygienist License Required
  • Dental Hygiene or Dental degree strongly preferred or equivalent experience.
  • Advanced knowledge of clinical dental skills.
  • The ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment in regards to significant business matters and duties.
  • Excellent teaching/presentation skills – experience in didactic or clinical education. *
  • Working knowledge (Intermediate) of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and the willingness to learn new database and reporting software. Ability to use the Internet and/or other electronic communication programs. Knowledge of strongly preferred.
  • The ability to build successful client relationships and proven sales success. *
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, analytical, presentation and communication skills.
  • Proven negotiation skills.
  • Accommodation of a customary and regular travel schedule including an overnight travel schedule of up to 60%. Person is willing and able to travel by air on commercial airlines, as well as by taxi, train, and bus. *
  • Also, must occasionally work weekends.
  • Must have valid driver’s license and means of transportation to make sales calls based in the covering territory. *
