Group Manager- IT Field Support

JOB SUMMARY The Group Manager, IT Field Support is responsible for the planning, implementation, maintenance, and operation of all technology infrastructure environments within their regional territory. They serve as the Technology Organizationrsquos (TO) infrastructure representative to all levels of management in their region and help the region support their customers. The technology environments include the Transport Network, DataVoice Network, Wireless Networks, Power Delivery and Transmission network related equipment. This position is also responsible for strategic planning and budgeting including coordinating these plans with the appropriate regional customers. Additionally, this position is responsible for ensuring that their team has the personnel with the knowledge necessary to provide comprehensive support to customer groups that meets all SLEs andor agreed upon customer expectations. This position specifically supports the geographical area within the state of Georgia on behalf of Georgia Power, SouthernLinc and Southern Company Gas, as well as the national geographic areas for Southern Company Gas and Southern Power. In addition, this position is a leader of leaderrsquos role with four direct reports and an organization of over fifty-six employees. JOB REQUIREMENTS B.S., B.A., or B.B.A degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Management Information Systems, Business, or another related field, is preferred. Demonstrated leadership and management skills, including building a strong, results-oriented team, performance management, and budget management with a proven track record of achieving measurable business results working with and through others. Comprehensive knowledge of current and future technological solutions that could impact the customers. Comprehensive understanding of Southern Company and their regional business areas or equivalent external experience which is transferrable to Southern Companyrsquos business model. Comprehensive communication skills with the ability to articulate TOrsquos strategies and projects to all levels of management including executives. Extensive knowledge of the budgeting process and business budget requirements. Proven analytical skills, problem solving skills, and project management skills. MAJOR JOB RESPONSIBILITIES Responsible for attracting, developing, retaining, managing a diverse group of highly technical employees and supervisors with emphasis on performance management, workforce planning and appropriately developing their direct reports to maximize human resources and prepare for future opportunities. In addition, they provide managerial directionsupport to other TO employees located within the region. Responsible for modeling behaviors which not only support Southern Companyrsquos efforts in diversity, equity, and inclusion, but also facilitates open dialogue with their employees to ensure barriers and unconscious bias are recognized, managed, and addressed within our culture. Serves as TOrsquos representative to management regarding infrastructure needs and requirements within their region. Participates with regional management teams and Infrastructure Services teams to facilitate operational and organizational effectiveness, including front-line response to storm readiness and restoration activities. Serves on the Infrastructure Operations management team and represents field operational requirements for their prescribed region. To ensure they are effective, they must establish and maintain strong partnershipsworking relationships with the centralized engineering areas of Infrastructure Services as well as with business partners, external vendors, and suppliers. Partners with TO and Infrastructure Services to plan and respond to key business initiatives that will leverage technology to meet the customerrsquos business needs. This position has ownership and knowledge of TOrsquos activities and projects that have the potential to impact their regional customers and is responsible for communicating and coordinating these activities to all management-level customers within the region. Responsible for the implementation and support of TOrsquos infrastructure technologies within their region ndash Transport Network, DataVoice Network, Wireless Networks, and Power Delivery and Transmission SCADA communication networks and equipment. Manages the 24 x 7 operations and maintenance functions of the regional infrastructure including configuration changes, fiber and microwave maintenance, and Power Delivery and Transmission SCADA communication networks and equipment. Responds to escalated issues and interacts with internal clients on all levels to help resolve technology-related issues and provides answers in a timely manner. Responsible for ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, audits, and change management controls. Included in this responsibility are disaster recovery and business continuity plans being developed and tested within their regional area of support. This is a critical function for coastal areas. Implements network and cyber security solutions at the regional level as established by company policies and guidelines. Develops and manages the OM and Capital budgets for their regional area. Understands and manages the total TOrsquos infrastructure budget for the customer and provides variance explanations with an understandable explanation of total costs for the delivery of the products and services to the customers throughout their area.
