Staff Accountant

Required Skills and Characteristics:

Summary of Job:

This position reports to the Accounting Manager and is responsible for traditional accounting assignments such as bank reconciliations, journal entries, and financial reporting including the preparation and consolidation of the monthly financial statements.

Duties and Responsibilities consist of, but are not limited to, the following:
General Ledger
– Coordination, preparation, entry, documentation of daily transactions; prepare monthly closing entries; intercompany processing and balancing
Assist Accounting Manager in researching accounting treatment for complex transactions.
Prepare monthly and quarterly management reporting package
Analyze financial statements and prepare commentary on significant variances
Consolidate subsidiary and parent financial results monthly
Track and reconcile capital expenditures
Bank and brokerage account reconciliations
Ad-hoc internal reporting and analysis
Budget preparation, reporting and analysis
Assist with year-end audit.
Required Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting; 2-4 years progressive experience; Strong Excel and Windows-based accounting system knowledge; proficiency in Word; accounting and analysis in multi-entity environment.

Preferred Experience:

CPA or CPA candidate; Great Plains Dynamics software experience; Budget preparation consolidated financial statement preparation; Non-profit (private foundation) accounting and reporting.
